how long does it take for prozac to work

I'm lonely, yet I don't want to talk to anyone, or do anything. I get panic attacks that wake me during the night, and just want to cry all of the time and I'm fed up with feeling fed up. I don't feel ready to go back to work, but yet I'm getting more and more depressed being at home. I've been diagnosed with depression, and have been signed off work sick for the past 4 weeks. I have no friends or family I can speak to, I've recently split up with my partner, who comes and goes when he pleases, and I either spend all night thinking about things, drink, or have to go to bed so I that can switch off. First 2 weeks were horrendous, I couldn't cry even though I still felt low, last 2 weeks I've gone to being able to cry all of the time and have spent pretty much all day in bed (after taking my 2 year old to nursery). Additionally, the risk of misuse and addiction is lower for Prozac than for other types of anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines.I've been on fluoxetine (20mg) for 4 weeks and feel no better, in fact I think I feel worse.
